I'm Jason Myer - a wedding videographer whose company is Wylie Video. I'd like to talk about wedding videography.
In my opinion wedding videography is very underrated, and I'd guess only 20-30% of weddings are professionally filmed. There are a few reasons. Below are my guesses.
1. After spending so much on photography, it's hard to spend more on something similar.
2. Great wedding video has been hard to make economically until recently.
3. People have seen great wedding photography, people rarely get to see wedding videography, let alone good or great wedding videography and therefore don't know what they're missing. This is slowly changing with the ease of sharing video with the internet.
4. People think very good or great video will cost them $2000 or more and out of their reach.
As far as I go, I really love filming weddings. If you had asked me 5 years ago if I thought I would like to film weddings, I wouldn't have hesitated and said no. But after getting into video, and after filming a few and getting feedback from the couples after they get their dvds/blu rays....I feel lucky to be doing this.
It's so much fun going to all these places around dallas and filming, meeting new people and finding new improvements in what we do. I'm also very lucky to have my wife be our lead editor.
I could go on and on, but I'd like to leave a final thought. Come see the quality of our HD footage and see why I'm so excited about filming in HD. I use a sony ex3 video camera.
